Additions to My Collection: February-March 2022

There were not many new additions in February so I decided to combine both of these two months into one post. That way I ended up covering more stuff in this post than I expected to and it ended up being quite long, so without further ado, let's get started.

Astra: Lost in Space vol. 4 (Finnish edition)

Planet Icriss is where the story of Astra really starts to get interesting, and I was pleased to discover the manga handled the big moments just as well as the anime did (I know the anime is an adaption of the manga but I watched the anime first so that's what I'm judging this based on). Volume 4 was slower paced than I expected, although there was some scenes that were cut from the anime so that explains it. The next and final volume is where the really good stuff happens, and I'm looking forward to reading it in April.
(Bought from my local supermarket on Wed, Feb 16th, for €6.90.)

Yotsuba&! vol. 5 (Finnish edition)

More Yotsuba goodness is always welcome. I'll admit I haven't sat down to read this yet (I'm writing this two weeks before the post is released as early April is going to be really busy for me) but I hope I'll find the time to do so at some point. We all need a good feel-good series to cheer us up in these difficult times.
(Bought from my local supermarket on Mon, Feb 21st, for €6.90.)

Astra: Lost in Space (UK Blu-ray)

Not done talking about Astra yet! So, it just happened that, after I had finished vol. 4 of the manga, I got this sudden urge to buy the blu-ray of the anime. Like, I just felt like I needed to have it in my collection. Well, now it's there. The first Manga Entertainment / Funimation UK release I've held in my hands, and therefore also the first one to have a slipcover. Definitely stands out in the bookshelf thanks to it. (I wonder if the disc trays being like this is a Manga Entertainment thing, because no other two-disc set in my collection has anything like that. I can't say that I like it - I keep fearing that the first disc's tray will scratch the second disc.) I haven't yet had the chance to play the discs but I might at some point, just to make they function correctly. I rewatched this anime last year so I'm not planning to do so again anytime soon, but when I do, I'll have it ready in my bookshelf no matter what happens to it on streaming services.
(Ordered from Amazon UK on Thu, Feb 24th, for £33.79 (incl. shipping). Arrived on Fri, Mar 3rd.)

Akira (Finnish DVD)

This one is a bit of an unexpected one and might not make sense at first. I'll explain. So earlier this month I got a school assignment to make a presentation about a classic movie. Naturally I wanted to make it about an anime movie, and after confirming it's okay to make it about a movie I've already seen, I went for Akira. I originally saw this movie last year with my dad (he rented it on iTunes). But I don't have iTunes so the only way I could rewatch this movie is to buy the DVD. (I could've went for the blu-ray too but my only blu-ray player - a PS4 - doesn't allow taking screenshots.) So here I am. Can't say about the picture quality since I haven't played the disc yet, but I reckon it's gonna be just fine. The packaging looks nice - the black spine really stands out in the bookshelf. I do expect this to be the last DVD I'm buying for a while tho, because once I get an USB blu-ray drive, blu-rays are going to be all I watch, lol.
(Bought from my local supermarket on Fri, Mar 18th, for €9.95.)
