Blog Update 1.0: It Sure Is (Not) Empty Here
It's been a while, huh. Since I last updated wrote anything on this blog. Well, it's not like there was much of interest even when I was (relatively) more active on here - unless you happen to like reading about the frankly questionable amounts of money I spend on anime and manga. But even so, it doesn't exactly give the impression of an actively maintained blog that the latest post was published... over 3 months ago. That's a whole anime season, you know! The entire second season of Made in Abyss aired without me doing anything with this blog!
Well, maybe it's just good that I haven't had time to spare for it, because I suppose a blog is supposed to be a tool of self-expression rather than to have intrinsic value in itself. What difference would a new post every month make if it was all nonsense (or collection updates)? Substance triumphs all, and truth be told I haven't had much substance to turn into writing these past few months. It's in part due to me still trying to figure out what kinds of things I even want to write about. Sure, the wide strokes are pretty clear - anime, manga and Sound Horizon - but what topics do I want to cover, and in what style, in which framing?
I tweet a lot, because tweeting is an easy way to get thoughts out into the world. 280 characters can be insufficient for the perfect articulation of many of those thoughts, but usually it's enough. Blogging, on the other hand, removes the maximum character limit but also in a way sets a minumum one. Something brief like "I watched a new anime, it was good" or "I went to a con, it was pretty fun" is perfect for Twitter but in a blog you have a practically infinite canvas to paint, so only using a couple of lines feels like a waste. In this post I'm already at my third paragraph because I have a lot to say about this topic, but that's not something that happens every day. Most of the thoughts I have that I think are worth sharing either fit in a tweet, or are ones that I mysteriously feel like I should "save" for until I have a platform where a lot of people actually care about what I say. Or projects that actually take a lot of time and effort and I... well, am lazy as fuck, to be completely frank.
So yeah, I guess I'm gonna leave it at that, and hope that writing inspiration hits me at some point. If you have an interest in what I think about the world and the media I consume, I hope I'll have something for you to read at some point in the Near Future. Until then, you can find me being terminally online on the bird platform. See ya.
P.S. I might do some improvements, visual and otherwise, to this blog in even Nearer Future. I just updated my collection page for the first time in way too many months. At this point I should just make a website since static content is much more my forte--- oh, what's this link to a currently empty domain, I must've accidentally dropped it, clumsy me.
