Near Past, Near Present and Near Future

It's been a while since I've last updated this blog, so, now that Ema Full is almost around the corner, I thought I'd share what I've been up to recently and what I will/might be up to in Near Future™. 

First things first: I graduated high school! (Well, the Finnish equivalent of high school. It's not exactly the same but close enough.) It's nice, getting a fun little hat and a fancy certificate and a shit ton of presents (mostly money) from relatives. Also it means that I'm now free from societal expectations for a while, probably for the last time in my life. I did get accepted into university directly based on my matriculation exam grades, but I'm not planning to start my studies there yet this fall. Why? Well, about that... 

Now might be a good time to mention that I'll be doing my military service next year, starting in January. Nothing extraordinary about that for us Finns, but those of you who don't have mandatory military service in your country might be surprised. It's not really a huge deal, almost every male goes through it anyway, but it does mean that I'm going to be much less online next year. (Which might be good for me, actually.) I've been planning my Near Future™ around that fact, so for example my end-of-year ranking blog posts might go out earlier than last year. 

I intend to get the most out of the six months of freedom I have left, so I'll be watching lots and lots of anime, playing some games too, and who knows, maybe finishing up some projects I've been working on. The thing I was teasing back in March didn't materialize itself in these three months, so the next thing on this blog will be the Ema Full unboxing. (At the time of writing, Amazon says the expected delivery is next weekend or early next week.) Before the New SH Release Madness begins, though, I'll hopefully be releasing a little something that may or may not be related to a visual novel I've been obsessed with these last few months. The medium for that won't be this blog though. I'll announce it on Twitter when it's ready. 

All the way back in October, I mentioned my personal website, erufailon4.net, which has been up and running since April but currently only has a placeholder main page. Bootstrap 5.3 was finally released at the end of May, but I've been busy with IRL and other stuff so I haven't been able to add finishing touches to the actual main page that will be greeting visitors of my website in Near Future™. It's not going to look amazing, but that's not really its point anyway, nor will it have a ton of content right out of the gate. It'll be more like my personal playground. 

I think that'll wrap it. Man, I can't believe Ema Full is finally almost here. The previews got me hyped, and the little nuggets of information from the concerts have got me really intrigued about what on earth Revo has cooked for us this time. It's sad that there won't be a recording of the concerts, but 3+ hours of new SH content is already more than amazing. Revo has done so much for so many of us, and I hope he knows that.

Happy 20th Anniversary to Sound Horizon!

Yeah, I know I'm a week late with this blog post. Been a lot going on so haven't been updating this blog much. But that should change in Near Future™. Anyway, happy (Around The) 20th anniversary, SH! The major debut album is a couple of months younger than me, so our ages match for most of the year. Fun coincidence, perhaps divine foreshadowing. It's Time for Me to Touch Grass

... or snow, I guess? With it being winter and everything. Almost minus 20 degrees Celsius at the time of me writing this! Let’s hope it warms even a little before next week. After all, I'm starting my military service next week. I've already written about it here months ago, but to recap: Finland has mandatory military service, 6 to 12 months depending on how important stuff one ends up doing. I'm aiming for 6 because it would fit my future plans, but who knows. What this means is that I'm going to be very busy for a few months starting from next Monday. So, I'm officially(?) putting this blog on hiatus. It's not like I updated it very often anyway, but it's likely going to be at least 6 months until I expect to post here again.  As for social media, I might still tweet every now and then but definitely less than usually. Around 20th Birthday and New Horizons

A lot has happened since I last updated this blog. I went and touched grass (well, snow for over half of it - dear god it was cold this winter) and served 165 days (fairly standard length for rank-and-file soldiers) in the army. With my citizen's duty now fulfilled, I'm a free man once again, at least until that dim-witted dictator on the other side of our eastern border decides to mess with us. If that happens, Signalsman [redacted] may have to grab an assault rifle again. Here's hoping that never happens. With that out of the way, it's time for some more long-lasting big changes in my life. First of all: I'm now in my 20s! As of today.
